Surgical Technologist Instructor/Preceptor

Overview:
The Clinical Preceptor serves as a clinical resource for students while students perform clinical tasks.
It is not the expectation that the preceptor acts as an instructor, but rather the preceptor is responsible for the on-site supervision and assessment of the students while on clinical.
The preceptor connects classroom and clinical area and their knowledge guides students to manage clinical assignments, meet course outcomes, and articulate areas of opportunity and concern to the faculty member.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
On site supervision and assessment of students at clinical siteManage student's progress on assignmentsValidate student completed case assignmentsCommunication of student's compliance and work back to the faculty memberAssess students complianceFacilitate student's orientation to facilityDemonstrate understanding and upholds the policies and procedures of Swedish Institute and the Surgical Technology programEvaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and papers.
Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues and participating in professional conferences.
SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

One year certificate from college or technical school; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess the credentials required for a professional in the field (i.
e.
CST, RMA, etc.
